VR Experience By Blake

Today room 6 and I got to experience blakes vr. Before we moved onto the vr experience we first talked about what harms marine life and the causes we can do to stop it, we also got more into things that ruin a healthy habitat. I learnt that when humans take fish way over the limit it can ruin the cycle in marine life since snappers eat kina or else they will over take everything and eventually eat all the seaweed.

Baked Beans Curry- By Mr Naidoo

Today in room 6 our teacher Mr Naidoo brought some ingredients and utensils to make Baked bean curry. Before we moved onto making the curry we had to write down all the ingredients we needed for the Baked bean curry then we needed to write down the method on how to make it. Once we had finished listing down all of the things we needed to know about the Baked bean curry, we then moved on to the making of the Baked Bean Curry, which smelled really great!

Review: I think the baked bean curry tasted really nice especially with the bread, I really recommend trying it since it’s really nice and easy, it also had a hint of spiciness but not too spicy which was nice.

Kupe and The Giant Wheke

This week my group and I read a book about Kupe and The Wheke. It is a story about a man named Kupe who goes to sea to catch fish but is only returned with a thick load of slime made by an octopus. Kupe goes to the owner of the Giant Wheke and tells him to control Wheke but he refuses so Kupe decides to take matters into his own hand by taking a few of his family members and setting to sea to find the Giant Wheke who had been eating all of the villages fish, Kupe and his family follow the Giant Wheke day and night until they’ve finally catch him and killed him.

Across The Sea

This week my group and I read a book called Across the sea, the story shows you about olden days navigation and how Ihaka (the main character) and his sister have learnt it. In the story It shows a boy named Ihaka who is very curious and adventurous, who travels across the sea to find people after the rising sea due to climate change, it also shows how there have been very limited food and supplies due to greedy people, which probably predicts the future showing how greedy people have gone and how much climate change has ruined the world, which is also getting worse since it’s just rising and nobody seems to care as much. The government is also greedy and will spend millions of money to send people up to space but can’t even afford to help the poor.

Elephant Toothpaste

Today in tech we made Elephant Toothpaste which is a science experiment that resembles toothpaste. To make Elephant Toothpaste we needed (down below), before making our Elephant Toothpaste we had to wear safety gloves since there are some dangerous chemicals that are included in the making and also safety glasses to protect our eyes in case anything gets in our eyes and causes a reaction burn.

  • 5 mil of 30 % hydrogen peroxide solution
  • 1 ml of  saturated potassium iodine solution
  • Liquid dishwashing detergent
  • Food colouring-any colour/optional
  • 50 ml measuring cylinder
  • Safety glasses
  • Gloves

(Can’t upload the video because it’s not working btw!)

New Zealand SLW

So today we have learned how to do some words and phrases in sign language for NZ SLW. As you can see in the video, we have only just learnt how to do it. Although we are not the best, we have still tried our best to have a proper conversation in sign language that involves all the words that we have learned.

If you have any tips for us, please let us know!

ANZAC Day

ANZAC is a day where we celebrate the remembrance of the Australian and New Zealanders soldiers, it is a time of day where we come together as a community to support ANZAC day by attending services held at dawn or by donating to veterans support charities.

Many people also wear red poppies on ANZAC day to represent the remembrance and support for the people who have served in the wars. There are also different coloured poppies that each mean different things, purple which represents the animals that had served in the wars and died, and the white poppy that represents a symbol of remembrance for all of the victims of war, and it also represents a commitment of peace.

Three handfuls of ice

1/4 cup rock salt

Method

  1. Place all of the reactants for the small ziplock bag into it. 2. Make sure the small ziplock bag is COMPLETELY sealed. 3. Place all of the reactants for the larger ziplock bag into it.
  2. Place the smaller ziplock bag into the larger bag
  3. Shake the larger bag from the corners, try not to touch the ice too much it’s very cold
  4. Shake until you can feel the milk has hardened into an icecreamlike texture

Product

Vanilla Ice Cream

Conclusion

The ice cream was pretty simple to make since we only needed 3 ingredients also because Mr helped us a bit, ours was sweet but not too sweet which was okay, but before we could open up our ice cream we had to rinse the top of but not to much or else the ice cream might melt.

Today In Tech

Today in tech we learnt about the different types of energies ,we also played with cool toys and learnt what powers them or makes them work,we also talked about the energies that are used for things like an engine, which uses kinetic energy to work.

These are the different types of Energies

We also use most of these energies throughout our daily lives, like electricity which powers our lights and tv

1.Current/Charge/Speed

2.Kinetic- movement

3.mechanic

4.potential-stored

5.nuclear-from nucleus of atoms

6.thermal-heat

7.Chemical-chemicals

8.bio/organic-compost

9.Electric

10.Sound
